Place the lamp shade on top of the faux leather paper. Mark with a pencil on the paper the top and the bottom of the lamp shade whilst rolling the lamp shade a short distance at the time. Add an extra 2 cm to the top and the bottom so that the faux leather paper will extend slightly beyond the lamp shade. Do remember that the paper must reach all the way around the lamp shade and that there must be a couple of extra centimetres for the fastening. Set the iron at a medium temperature and iron the faux leather paper to smooth it out.
Cut out the design and fasten it onto the outside of the lamp shade with clothes pegs to keep it in place. Apply glue onto the leather paper where the paper overlaps. Keep the overlaps in place with clothes pegs until the glue is dry.
Cut two pieces of rattan; one measuring 30 x 38 cm and one measuring 12 x 25 cm. Glue the ends together making two tubes; one being 30 cm in height and the other 12 cm in height. Keep the tubes in place with clothes pegs and a piece of string until the glue is dry.
Pull out a couple of strings of the rattan so that the holes in the rattan are open and can grip around the lamp shade. Only do this at one end.
Place the small tube onto the top of the lamp shade and the large tube at the bottom. You may attach the rattan tubes onto the lamp shade by tying a small piece of string through a couple of holes in the rattan and the lamp shade.
