Upcycle and reuse jam jars

1 Clean the glass thoroughly and sand the lid with fine sand paper.

2 Paint the lid with craft paint.

3 Mix different colours of glass paint. You may make a light blue colour by mixing approx. one teaspoon of white glass paint with a drop of blue glass paint. Make pink by mixing approx. one teaspoon of white glass paint with a drop of red.

4 Put on some plastic gloves and decorate the glass jar. You may make different colours of dots on the jar using a finger. Leave to dry.

5 Pour a bit of glass paint into a suitable tub or onto a piece of plastic.

6 Place the jar inside a large cardboard box as this technique will spray a lot. Dip the brush in the glass paint. Hold the brush close to the glass jar and run a stick or similar through the bristles of the brush towards yourself. Practise this technique before spattering onto the jam jars. Leave the jars to dry for a minimum of four hours before fixing in the oven at 160°C for 45 minutes.
